To the citizens of Marion County, welcome to our official Marion County Sheriff's Office website and thank you for your interest in our department. I became interested in law enforcement while I was a high school student here in Marion County. I was involved in a Co-Op Program that allowed me to work the radio at the jail and was also involved in the Auxiliary Police Program that the Civil Defense offered where we could help out at ballgames and such. After high school, I moved to Louisiana where I attended and graduated EMT school and worked for Acadian Ambulance Service for about a year and a half. I came back to Marion County, where I was born and raised, and worked at our local hospital. To fuel the fire, that kept me around various first responders such as our law enforcement, ambulance personnel, and fire fighters. In 1988, I ran for and was elected as Constable of District 2. I also worked part time with the Sheriff's Office then under Sheriff Webbie McKenzie. I was reelected as Constable again in 1992 and still stayed on as part time with the Sheriff's Office under the newly elected Sheriff Rip Stringer. After my term as Constable ended, I took a break from law enforcement for almost fourteen years. It was always my dream to run for Sheriff, so in 2007, I did. I was elected and began serving as Sheriff of Marion County in January 2008. You, the citizens of Marion County, have chosen to keep me as your Sheriff and have reelected me twice, as I am currently serving my third term. I thank you, and I plan on continuing to serve the people of our county as long as you see fit to reelect me. Our department has came a long way in the last ten years. From patrol vehicles, to equipment, benefits, operating within the parameters of our given budget every fiscal year, we strive to serve our county and its' citizens in the best and most efficient way possible. I am very proud of our department and all the employees. They work hard. Not only because it is a job they love, but because it is a calling. Thank you for your continued support and as always, please don't hesitate to call.
